I love building brands. To me, a brand is a familiar place where you feel at home, where you love to return, and which gets other people excited. Shaping the story behind a brand: that is when I am at my best.
My love for the craft of creative marketing communication was sparked during my internship at TBWA\ Chiat Day New York. The candy store of advertising. There, as a rookie, I hung around in the brand teams of Absolut Vodka and Champion Sportswear. Dutch brand professor Giep Franzen subsequently helped me with my UvA thesis on strong brands and consistent communication. At TBWA\ Amsterdam, I learned the daily reality of the advertising business. And as a founder of two agencies (escobar copy and Brandmake) I learned from my clients what challenges companies face.
By now, I have over twenty-five years of experience creating brand strategy, writing corporate stories, setting up campaigns, making content, and leading creative teams.
